Part-Time Hourly Age Group Coach Announcement:
Coronado Swim – Team Elite (CSTE) is seeking part-time hourly coaches who have a passion for competitive swimming to help lead our age group swimmers through our program’s development model. As a member of the coaching staff you will be responsible for teaching and inspiring young swimmers to achieve their athletic goals and aspirations in the sport of swimming in alignment with our team’s vision of building character, feeding dreams and elevating performance.
CSTE is interested in bringing on new, high-energy and engaging swim coaches to teach developmental skills to our age group swimmers, including: stroke technique, racing fundamentals and concepts of power generation associated with all four strokes, starts and turns. Individuals interested in joining our team should have a passion for teaching young athletes in the sport of swimming and help put them on a path to collegiate competition.
We have two locations – Coronado and La Jolla. We are seeking coaches for our Coronado location but you might be asked to cover either location from time to time. Coaches will be required to pass a background check and acquire a USA Swimming Provisional Coach’s License. There will be opportunities for individuals to seek coaching education certifications and qualifications through USA Swimming and develop professionally as a USA Swimming coach, opening up possibilities for other coaching opportunities within the sport of swimming. POSITION SUMMARY:

- Maintains all logs, files, reports, communications, and electronic data relating to water quality inspections, incidents, maintenance reports and any other general daily reports
- Maintains high standards of cleanliness throughout the facility including locker rooms, pool, pool deck, facility grounds and all surrounding areas
- Develops strategic plans for increasing profitability using a combination of sales building and cost control

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Team Administration:

Job Summary: This position oversees the daily operations of the White Memorial Park Pool during the summer months. Daily operations include a variety of duties such as planning, scheduling and maintaining the seasonal operation of the pool. Activities that fall under seasonal pool operations include, but are not limited to, all swimming pool operations, including first aid, rotations, scheduling of staff, public relations, janitorial duties, pool maintenance (including daily chemical analysis/testing, pool cleaning, filter backwashing), cleaning of bathrooms and changing rooms, and concession stand areas. This is a working leadership position that requires being present on weekends and holidays. Hours of operation during summer season are 6:00 am – 8:00 pm during the week and 11:00 am – 7:00 pm on weekends.
Essential Duties:
- Hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates lifeguards and other pool staff.
- Creates and manages the lifeguard schedule, including guard rotations for all shifts.
- Pays attention to schedules to avoid having staff work greater than 37.5 hours per week.
- Collects, reviews and approves timesheets. Ensures that timesheets are submitted to Program Director by 8:00 am each Monday.
- Checks and maintains log to record Chlorine and pH levels in the pool every 2 hours.

- Communicate with the Head Coach and ensure that all practice groups are covered in the event of scheduled or unscheduled absences.

- Communicate effectively and promptly with swim group parents and respond to emails in a timely and professional manner.
- This responsibility list is not all-inclusive and may require other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, including but not limited to meet entries and relays, parent communication, workout planning, providing consistent and constructive feedback, and assisting with daily, weekly and season plans.
QUALIFICATIONS:
All WFF coaches who work with competitive swimmers must maintain current USA Swimming certifications. The Assistant Coach must present an appearance and an image consistent with WFF. Must possess mature judgement and sound decision-making. The Assistant Coach must have the ability to relate to people in a positive, but firm manner. The Assistant Coach must be capable of maintaining harmonious relationships with staff, swimmers, the Board, officials, and the general public. The Assistant Coach must work daily to nurture the potential of youth and teens and help the swimmers improve their well-being.
- The Assistant Coach should also have the following qualifications:
- A total of 5 cumulative years of experience in USA swimming, high school and/or collegiate swimming (as a swimmer or coach).
- In good standing with USA Swimming and have completed all required coaching certifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching team.
- Self-motivated and self-directed with a teachable spirit.
- High School Diploma or GED.
AVAILABILITY:
- Year-round afternoon and evening practice times with the potential for morning practices in June and July.
- Weekend team meets throughout the swim season (specific times will vary).
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is typically performed indoors in varying and occasionally hot weather conditions. A few meets are performed outdoors in varying conditions in the summer.
- Ability to arrive at work on time for all scheduled work shifts required.
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Frequently required to climb or balance and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- It is necessary for the position to travel independently to swim meet locations or Clubs on a regular basis.
