Purpose
Eagerly and enthusiastically leads the successful organization, implementation and supervision of the MAC Swim School & Lifeguard programs, their staff and aquatic facilities.

Empowered to
Lead staff and swimmers to excellence in programming, skill development and water safety
Provide excellent customer service on a daily basis
Keep up on personal professional advancement
Communicate with members as needed, via email, phone, in person meetings, etc.
Develop and regularly use motivational tools for staff and swimmers
Lead coordinators, lifeguard and swim school staff toward excellence in safety, programming and member service
Continually enhance program curriculum, teaching methods and keep all staff trained on the latest proven techniques and aquatic industry trends
Reach out in the community to promote drowning prevention and water safety
Essential Job Functions
Hires, supervises, coaches, motivates, develops and trains all swim school and lifeguard staff. Will step into “on deck” roles as needed.
Oversees and monitors the performance of instructional and lifeguard staff and coordinators on a daily basis
Responsible for certifying all instructors and lifeguards in accordance with American Red Cross
Responsible for processing payroll for hourly aquatics staff
Communicates pool schedule and changes to members and aquatic staff
Conducts performance appraisals and reviews for hourly aquatic staff
Continuously recruits and interviews aquatic staff candidates
Assists in the development of the swim school and lifeguard budgets and operates within each
Develops and assigns work schedules for coordinators, lifeguards and swim instructors in order to ensure complete coverage of pools and programs
Conducts staff in-service trainings on a regular basis
Submits maintenance work orders as needed
Attends weekly meetings with the Aquatics Manager and other meetings as assigned
Promotes member participation in aquatics programs
Manages medical emergencies as they arise and notifies the Aquatics Manager as needed
Makes recommendations to the Aquatics Manager as to facility, equipment, supplies, procedural improvement and modifications as necessary
Maintains effective and open communications with subordinates and supervisors
Complies with all Club safety policies and procedures demonstrating safe work practices. Identifies and reports unsafe or hazardous work conditions. Reports all workplace injuries and illnesses to supervisor
Promotes the MAC code of conduct in club activities and demonstrates the importance of providing quality service to members
Plans, coordinates and leads the night of annual water safety event
Maintains regular and predictable attendance but remains flexible due to the needs of the department
Works directly with HR Training Coordinator to provide club-wide CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogen Trainings.
Secondary Functions
Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Participates in all club-related training classes
Essential Tools, Equipment, Vehicles, and/or Machinery
Essential job functions require the use of a telephone, computer, copy machine, mechanical lifts to move stairs and bulkhead, and other equipment associated with lifeguarding. Must demonstrate the ability to differentiate shades of color as it relates to water chemistry testing.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Must be able and willing to work long hours including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Essential job functions require walking, sitting, pulling, pushing, swimming, and the ability to rescue and lift swimmers out of the pool.
Qualifications
Current Lifeguard, CPR-PR and First Aid certifications.
Three years lifeguard and swim instruction experience.
Prior supervisory or lead worker experience required.
Bachelor’s degree required
Completion of American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification within first year of employment. Lifeguard Instructor Trainer certification obtained within the first year
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively motivate and develop staff.
Excellent customer service and decision making skills including the ability to work effectively with parents and juniors.
Ability and skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members and staff.
