FLSA status: Hourly (Part Time)

Summary: The Arkansas Dolphins Head Site Coach-Cabot will oversee the Arkansas Dolphins Swim Team Cabot Sites. The Head Site Coach will train, manage and schedule all swim coaches based on the developed budget based on site athlete numbers and oversee the program development of all training and swim meets that the site participates in. The Arkansas Dolphins Swim Team is owned and operated by The Athletic Clubs of Arkansas. The Dolphins have a rich history of over 50 years in the state of Arkansas and have had 6 Olympians including 1 Gold Medal Champion on its team. This position is a partnership position with the City of Cabot Arkansas Parks and Recreation which requires the site to operate within the parameters of the yearly contract. A facility use contract allows for the Arkansas Dolphins to be a part of the Cabot Parks and Recreation family of sports to provide a high-level competitive swimming experience to the Cabot, Arkansas Community. All sites of the Arkansas Dolphins compete together as one group and share resources to offer the highest level of training and available in the state.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

• Must be able to work variable shifts, evenings & weekends.
• Must be able to stay a fully certified USA Swimming swim coach currently registered for the 2020 season as a non-athlete passing all required test and background checks.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a certified swim coach, head coaching and/or group lead coaching experience preferred.
• Must be able to use Hy-Tek Team Meet Manager and Team Manager.
• Must know how to update a Team Unify website online.
• Must meet all deadlines for facility contract requirements regarding practice schedules, swim meet line ups, swim meet registrations and USA Swimming athlete and non-athlete registrations.
• Ability to supervise children, youth and adults.
• Ability to understand, follow and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Must understand and enforce facility rules equally for all swimmers, swim team families, facility members and guest.
• Must have great customer services skills when dealing with facility administration, facility staff members, facility members, facility guest, swimmers and swim team families.
• Assist staff with events and other duties as assigned.
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting relationships, work assignments and work schedules may be subject to change in order to meet department needs or operational requirements. Attendance at work and the ability to get along with the public, Cabot Parks and Recreation Commission, Cabot Parks and Recreation Supervisors and co-workers are essential elements of this program.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Will supervise all site coaches and other coaches assigned by the head coach in team related activities during practice sessions and at swim meets. Will supervise all swim team members during all training sessions in and out of the water at the scheduled location for such activity or delegate an assistant coach under your direct supervision.

Education and/or Experience
Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a certified swim coach, head coaching and/or group lead coaching experience preferred.
ASCA Level 3 or higher education preferred, strong ASCA Level 2 will be considered.
Bachelor’s degree in a sports management, kinesiology or recreation preferred, experience can stand in place of this requirement.

Preferred Qualifications
American Swimming Coaches Association Level 3.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
LSC leadership experience as either a board or committee member.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organizations. Ability to effectively present information to Cabot Parks Management, Arkansas Dolphins Swim Team Families and The Athletic Clubs of Arkansas administration and team members.

Writing Skills
Ability to effectively communicate in writing using email, letters, memos, press releases, and reports.

PLANNING
As the head site coach, it is expected to create a season plan each season for all practice groups in collaboration with assistant coaching staff. Individual goal meeting with upper level age group and senior level swimmers is expected as well. When given assignments, the employee is responsible for the method, manner, and sequence. When planning own work schedule/ operations the head site coach must work with facility administration to ensure practice schedules work within the parameters of the facility’s available workout space.

Physical Demands
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Conditions
While performing the functions of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, wet or humid conditions, extreme heat; and occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, risk of electrical shock.
