Position: Liquid Lightning Head Swim Coach
Location: Lake Orion High School Natatorium, Lake Orion, MI
Pay: Negotiable based on qualifications and experiences. Relocation fees are not available at this time.
Reports to: Parent Board of Directors
Description: Liquid Lightning is a year-round competitive swim club with approximately 150 swimmers.
The mission of Liquid Lightning is to develop and empower swimmers at ALL levels so that they reach their highest potential as a person and athlete.
Ages range from 5-19 representing all ability levels from beginner to Jr. National level. We have high place finishes at the State level including several state champions. Our sectional team continues to expand as well. We wish to continue that growth pattern while remaining true to our mission statement. We are seeking a high energy passionate coach to further our excellent tradition.

Overall Responsibilities:
• Implement and lead USA Swimming Safe Sport polices with the team
• Adhere to USA Swimming Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Plan and other standard USA Swimming policies
• Lead large groups of swimmers at various levels and manage the coaching staff
• Maintain a positive and supportive attitude toward other members of coaching staff, swimmers, Board Members and other members of our local swim community
• Attend monthly board meetings to provide updates on team training, coaching staff, swim rosters, swimmer attendance, meet performances, etc.
• Plan and implement training designed for groups from beginner to high level competitive
• Work with a wide age range of swimmers understanding swimming progression
• Plan and lead a dry land program focusing on safety and injury prevention in the water
• Submit meet entries
• Stay up to date with the latest science, technology, Safe Sport policy, and procedures of USA swimming
• Plan USA meet schedule that best fits the needs of the swimmers
• Supervise and mentor assistant coaches and delegate tasks as necessary
• Provide leadership as the voice of the team
• Communicate with pool management regarding pool availability and pool use
• Maintain required coaching certification, safety training, and any other required certifications necessary to meet USA and Michigan Swimming Requirements

Manage Club Practices:
• Develop and implement training programs and on deck instruction, as needed based on age and skill level
• Develop and implement a policy and method for swimmer evaluations to be used in determining practice group placement and advancement
• Plan team practice schedules, and communicate plans and changes to swimmers, as needed
• Attend all coach-scheduled practices, unless precluded by illness or excused with prior agreement with the board of directors
• Communicate key practice and training info to swimmers and families regarding practices, training tips and necessary equipment
• Promptly communicate feedback to coaching staff, swimmers, and parents
• Ensure appropriate coach coverage for practice sessions
Manage Club Meets:
• Select and schedule appropriate meets for swimmers
• Manage meet entries for committed swimmers, meet results and other meet-related administrative tasks
• Attend all coach-selected meets, including weekend travel to away meets, unless precluded by illness or excused with prior agreement with the board of directors
• Communicate key meet information to team regarding scheduled meets, timelines, entries, results, and other required meet information
• Ensure appropriate coach coverage for meet sessions
• Prefer minimum of 5 years of coaching experience in a competitive swim environment
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
• Strong leader
• Ability to meet all USA swimming certification and coaching requirements (CPR, Safety training for Swim Coaches, USA Background Check, Athlete protection Training, Lifeguarding)
• Mature judgment, reliability, availability, and ethical behavior including punctuality, confidentiality, and the ability to function effectively in a multitask environment
• Experienced in dryland training programs for swimmers
• Experience with multiple age groups and talent levels
• Ability to work well with and effectively communicate with swimmers, parents, and staff
• Efficient computer skills including but not limited to Meet Manager and Team Unify
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Passionate about the sport of swimming
• Ability to create a positive training environment for all swimmers
