About Martin County Swimming
Martin County Swimming is a competitive swim program that was established in 1973, with a strong foundation, dedicated athletes, and a supportive community. We are committed to developing swimmers not only as athletes, but also as leaders, teammates, and individuals of character. As our program continues to expand, we are searching for a Head Coach who is passionate about building a successful, positive, and sustainable team culture.
Position Summary
Martin County Swimming is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Head Coach to lead all aspects of our competitive swim program. This position requires a leader who is willing to do what it takes to grow the team, develop athletes at every level, and create an environment that athletes and families are excited to be part of.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, driven, organized, and enthusiastic about long-term program development. We are looking for someone who understands that building a strong team takes commitment, consistency, and the ability to connect with swimmers, parents, and the community.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the swim program
- Develop season plans, training groups, and athlete progression
- Foster a positive, disciplined, and team-oriented culture
- Recruit and retain swimmers of all ages and ability levels
- Mentor assistant coaches and support staff
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and board members
- Attend and supervise practices, meets, and team events
- Organize team development initiatives and community outreach
- Promote athlete growth both in and out of the pool
- Work collaboratively to continue growing the visibility and success of Martin County Swimming
Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience in competitive swimming
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Passion for athlete development and team culture
- Motivated self-starter with a growth mindset
- Ability to build relationships with swimmers and families
- Organized, dependable, and professional
- Current USA Swimming certifications
- Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid certifications preferred
