Bulldog Swimming is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and motivated Age Group Coach to join our coaching staff. This individual will play a key leadership role in the development of our age group program and will be responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and technically sound environment for swimmers ages 6–14.
The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching, enjoys working with developing athletes, and understands the critical role age group coaching plays in building a successful long-term program. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on athlete development while working within a supportive and collaborative coaching staff.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee designated age group training groups, with primary responsibility for swimmer development and progression.
- Plan and conduct daily practices focused on stroke technique, race skills, starts, turns, underwaters, kicking, and overall athletic development.
- Develop seasonal, monthly, and weekly training plans appropriate for the age and ability of the athletes.
- Establish a positive, disciplined, and athlete-centered training environment that promotes both performance and enjoyment of the sport.
- Monitor athlete progress and provide regular feedback to swimmers and families.
- Assist swimmers in setting goals and developing healthy training habits.
- Coach athletes at local, regional, and championship-level competitions.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with athletes, parents, and fellow coaches.
- Work closely with the Head Coach and coaching staff to ensure a seamless progression through the club’s athlete development pathway.
- Participate in team events, clinics, camps, parent meetings, and community outreach initiatives.
- Support athlete recruitment, retention, and overall program growth.
- Ensure compliance with all USA Swimming, Safe Sport, and club policies and procedures.
- Maintain all required coaching certifications and continuing education requirements.
- Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for Bulldog Swimming both on and off deck.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience with a USA Swimming club, high school, collegiate, or comparable competitive swimming program.
- Demonstrated success coaching and developing age group swimmers.
- Strong technical knowledge of stroke mechanics, starts, turns, underwaters, and age-appropriate training methodology.
- Ability to motivate young athletes while maintaining high standards and accountability.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented coaching environment.
- Current USA Swimming coach certifications or the ability to obtain them prior to employment.
