WEST Coast Aquatics is seeking an energetic and personable addition to our coaching staff. This role is split between coaching our Challenge training group on the competitive swim team and managing our Learn-to-Swim Lessons Program.
Base Pay: This is a salaried position and will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the individual upon hire.
Benefits: This position includes full medical, vision and dental insurance. Additionally, we will partially reimburse cell phone bills each month with the expectation that calls, texts and emails are monitored from home.
End-Of-Year Bonus: during profitable years, the board will award up to 50% of profits to be split between employees based on individual performance, contribution and longevity.
Private Lessons: We allow our coaches to do Private Lessons. They must be done during lap or open swim times and adhere to our set pricing structure. We do a revenue share on Private Lessons, Club Team Coaches keep 75% of the lesson revenue and 25% goes to the organization.
Challenge Group Coaching
Our Challenge Group is our fourth level on the year-round competitive team and is the middle Age Group level. Swimmer ages range between 9-12 years old and are continuing to build on the strength, endurance and skill developed in previous groups. This is one of the most demanding levels of the team as both practice duration and frequency are increased. This coach will be responsible for all in-water and dryland training, attending all meets Challenge swimmers compete in, and working closely with the Head Age Group Coach to prepare swimmers for the Accelerate group and ultimately Senior level swimming.
Lessons Manager Duties
This role is responsible for managing all Swim Lessons operations including both Private and Group Lessons. Lessons program tasks include managing the registration and class platform, all parent communications and marketing efforts, swimmer evaluations and instructor training. This person will work closely with the General Manager to ensure program standards and enrollment numbers are maintained.
Meet & Vacation Schedule:
Meets happen roughly 1-2 times per month. The club team takes a break during the month of August and coaches should plan their vacations around this time. Additional time off may be accommodated by coaches covering one another, outside of Championship months. Annual vacation time is accrued based on years employed and a complete breakdown is listed in our Employee Handbook.

Must have 1-2 years minimum experience in competitive swim coaching or teaching children. Candidates should also have some management and / or administrative experience. This person must be able to think critically and problem solve under stress in a fast paced environment. Proficient with MS Office or Google Documents & Spreadsheets and familiar with Team Unify web platform.
USA Swimming Coach Certification: Must be able to register as a Coach with USA Swimming, passing all background checks and meeting all safety and training requirements.
Lifeguard & CPR Certified: Must be capable of obtaining American Red Cross Lifeguarding & CPR Certification. We prefer if this candidate is already certified, but we regularly offer classes throughout the year and will reimburse the cost of the class.
Strong Customer Service Skills: This position is the gateway of communication on our team and greater community. This person will interact with customers, vendors, parents, athletes and must be outgoing, friendly and personable, yet effective and firm when necessary.
Organized & Detail Oriented: We expect our coaches to lead by example and demand excellence while nurturing growth and learning. Given the young age of swimmers in this group, many are discovering their passion for the sport and it is paramount they build a strong foundation of skills / technique while having fun and developing a strong work ethic.
Lessons Program Schedule
Saturday & Sunday: 10:30am-1pm*
*weekend coverage will be shared, this person is responsible for 1 weekend day.
Normal Practice Schedule
Monday-Thursday: 6-6:30pm Challenge Dryland / 6:30-8:30pm In-Water Practice
Friday: 7-7:30pm Challenge Dryland / 7:30-9pm In-Water Practice
Saturday: 9:00 – 11am In-Water Practice
Sunday: Meets Only
Other Schedule Items
Weekly Coach’s Meeting: Mondays 10-11am
Office Hours: 2 hours per day Monday-Thursday with flexibility to maintain 8 total hours per week.
Weekday Lifeguard Hours: 5 hours, the Full-Time Coaches are responsible for lifeguarding the pool 9am-2pm, Monday-Friday.
Swim Meet Weekends: specific individual coaching coverage will be determined on a meet-by-meet basis.
