|POSITION SUMMARY:The Assistant Coach for Swimming will hold a full-time, 10-month appointment in the Department of Athletics and will report to the Head Coach for Swimming & Diving. The coach will assist with coaching, organizing, administering and developing a successful intercollegiate athletics program. The coach complies with all rules and regulations of the NCAA, the University Athletic Association, Washington University, and the Department of Athletics.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes to Washington University by identifying academically qualified and athletically talented prospective student-athletes, communicating with prospects, and encouraging prospect application and matriculation. Coordinate campus recruiting visits. Instruct team members, individually and in groups, in sport-related skills and techniques, particularly in skills and events as assigned by the Head Coach. Assist in planning and implementing of all aspects of the specific sport program, including team organization and composition, player selection and evaluation, practice planning and supervision, and competition planning and strategy. Represent the University at campus, alumni, and community functions. Participate directly and/or advise the Head Coach on matters related to team discipline, player counseling, etc., requiring discretion, sound decision-making and independent judgment. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or supervising athletic administrator.
