IM-and-middle-distance specialist Jess Pryne has verbally committed to the LSU Tigers as part of the high school class of 2020. Pryne will provide immediate relief to an LSU stroke group that scored only 7 points at last year’s SEC Championship meet when Nicole Rozier finished 18th in the 200 IM – their only women’s IM scorer.
Pryne’s best time in the 400 IM of 4:16.31 is faster than anybody at LSU swam last season and would have ranked 35th in the conference.

- 500 free – 4:50.29
- 100 back – 56.64
- 200 back – 2:00.78
- 200 IM – 2:01.79
- 400 IM – 4:16.31
In her junior season, Pryne’s biggest progress came in the butterfly events, though those were her only lifetime bests. She dropped a second-and-a-half off her best time in the 100 fly to go 56.2 and half-a-second off her 200 fly to go 2:05.71.
LSU has also brought in Summer Stanfield (1:59.93/4:18.75) and Jolee Liles (2:02.21/4:15.88) in the 2019 class to help shore up that IM group as well, though Liles had knee surgery this summer.
Pryne swims for NYS Aquatics and Cornwall Central High School near Poughkeepsie.
