The Grand Valley State men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams went a combined 4-1 in a quad meet with Indianapolis, Findlay and the Eastern Michigan women. The Laker women went 3-0; defeating #2 Indianapolis 166 – 133, #19 Findlay 233 – 62, and division 1 foe Eastern Michigan 177 – 117. The GVSU men defeated #5 Findlay 170-123, but dropped a 180-115 decision to #2 Indianapolis.

HOLLAND, Mich.—The No. 2-ranked UIndy swimming & diving teams took on a Divison I foe and pair of DII powers at the Eastern Michigan quad dual Friday night. In addition to the Greyhound women topping host EMU, both UIndy teams bested their ranked Findlay counterparts while splitting with Grand Valley State.
All four Division II opponents were ranked in the top 20, with both GVSU teams at No. 7, the Findlay men at No. 5 and the Findlay women at 19th. The meet was held at the Holland Aquatic Center in Holland, Mich.

INS & OUTS
The Greyhound men raced past both of their top-10 opponents, combining for 12 wins in 15 events on the night. They started the evening with a victory in the 200 medley relay and ended it with a 200 FR win.
In between, Serge Ahadzhanian and Cedric Buessing notched a pair of individual wins apiece; the former sweeping the butterfly events and the latter winning the 500 free and the 200 IM.
UIndy also took third and fifth in the 500, with Christian Hedeen and Stanislaw Chalat joining Ahadzhanian in the top five. Hedeen also touched first in the 1000.
Senior diver Jason Lenzo notched two wins as well, finishing first on both the 1- and 3-meter boards.
Jeron Thompson and Andras Tiszai won the 100 and 200 backstroke, respectively, with Bartek Swiderski placing third in both events. UIndy also went 1-3 in the 50 free, as Diego Mas (20.44) out-touched Findlay’s top sprinter by just .03 seconds, followed closely by Joao Silva at 20.55.
For the women, UIndy earned a victory in the very first race, as Caroline Reinke, Johanna Buys, Celina Schmidt and Leticia Vaselli combined for a time of 1:45.91 in the 200 MR.
Buys, meanwhile, continued her successful season in the sprints, posting a 23.54 to take first in the 50 free. And Schmidt went on to finish runner-up in both breaststroke events.
Reinke won the 100 backstroke, and senior Emilia Colti-Dumitrescu finished first in the 1000 free.
On the boards, Alexis Lumaj was the top UIndy finisher on both heights, taking first on the 1-meter and fourth on the 3-meter. Her provisional score of 256.60 on the 1-meter springboard just edged teammate Mikaela Starr’s 255.95.
UP NEXT
The Hounds have just one more meet on the schedule before the conference championships. UIndy will head to nearby Fishers High School for the Butler Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 29.
