NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – La Salle’s Norm Gregory and St. Bonaventure’s Katrina Wardner have been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. La Salle’s Sam Henninger and Duquesne’s Emma Menzer earned Men’s and Women’s Rookie of the Week. The awards are for events completed Oct. 28- Nov. 3.
Gregory, a senior from Pittsburgh, Pa., took first place in the 50 free and 100 free at the A-10 Classic with times of 21.03 and 45.67 respectively. He was also part of the 200 free relay, 200 medley relay, and 400 medley relay teams that all placed second.
Wardner helped pace the Bonnies to three wins at the Atlantic 10 Classic last weekend by winning four events. Wardner, a junior from Orchard Park, N.Y., captured victory in the 200-IM with a time of 2:05.95 and followed that by winning the 400-IM with a time of 4:28.24. She teamed up with Zanre Oberholzer, Mia Cote and Rachel Kimmel to win the 400-medley relay, ringing in at 3:52.63.
Henninger, a Glenside, Pa., native, finished first in both dives at the A-10 Classic. In his first place finish in the 1-meter dive, he scored 298.95 points and tallied 289.10 in the 3-meter dive.
Menzer, a freshman from Newark, Del., defeated all opponents in the 1,650-yard freestyle, finishing in 17:43.62 at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Classic over the weekend at SPIRE Institute to help the Dukes post a 4-0 dual record at the event. She also topped several conference opponents in the 200-yard IM at 2:07.76 and 400-yard IM at 4:30.51 with second-place showings in that pair of events. She was also part of Duquesne’s 3:58.26 400-yard medley relay, which placed fourth in the event.
