Per our High-Level International Meets for May 2021 post, the annual Glasgow International Swim Meet was originally on the books for May 28th through May 30th. However, in conjunction with the announcement of British Swimming’s 40-strong roster for next month’s European Championships, the organization also revealed that the aforementioned Glasow competition will undergo some changes.
First, the meet’s name will change to now be referred to as the ‘Glasgow Swim Meet’. Additionally, the dates have moved to June, with the competition now spanning Thursday, June 3rd through Sunday, June 6th. Finally, the meet will mimic the timing of this summer’s Olympic Games, with prelims taking place in the evening followed by finals the next morning.
According to the announcement, information regarding this meet will be published on the British Swimming website from 3rd May, with entries opening for a limited period the following day (4th May).
The meet will serve as a last-chance qualification opportunity for any athlete who wasn’t able to snag a Tokyo roster spot at the British Olympic Selection Trials or European Championships or any other approved meet in between.
See you in Glasgow 🙂
