The TV show “Eternal Glory” has had very good viewer percentage over many years in Sweden – sometimes up to 62 percent. The show’s format has even crossed over into Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway. Now the German TV station “VOX” is going to adapt the TV format and call it “Eternal heroes” (Ewige Helden) and it should include eight episodes in the first season.
VOX, according to a press release of www.dwdl.de, was apparently able to sway some prominent German athletes, among others Britta Steffen. Steffen was the gold medalist in the 50 m and 100 m freestyle at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and she retired from competitive swimming in 2013. She has been in a relationship with Paul Biedermann for several years now. Steffen has a degree in Industrial Engineering and now studies Human Resources Management. In the TV show, ten former professional athletes compete to find out who is the most versatile one. Over eight episodes, they will compete in various sports competitions, but next to the competitive aspect, they will also give an insight in their sports, their career and a deep look into their souls while talking about their greatest successes and sporting defeats. The Cologne-based broadcaster plans the contests as a mixture of endurance, strategy and concentration. The goal is to collect as many points as possible and each week one participant must leave the group. The best three will fight in the last episode for the win.
During her career, the now 31 year old Britta Steffen always tried to keep her privacy and also today, she and Paul Biedermann don’t live a public life. So it will be very interesting for the audience to see a a different side of the prominent swimmer.
