Alex Clark, a junior at Alpharetta High School and a member of Dynamo Swim Club in Atlanta, has made her verbal commitment to swim for the U.S. Air Force Academy in the fall of 2021. A butterflier and IMer, Clark will join a Falcons team that sports five women between 55.56 and 56.73 in the 100-yard butterfly and three women between 2:04.53 and 2:06.78 in the 200-yard butterfly, and she will get some overlap with half of them, including the number time on the team in the 200-yard butterfly Dia Gawronski.

At the 2020 Georgia 6-7A High School State Championship meet, Clark took 4th place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.89) and won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 56.71, a meet in which she finished 5th and 6th place respectively last year. At the 2019 Georgia Short Course Senior State Meet, Clark took 6th place in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.08) and 7th place in the 200 yard IM (2:09.55).

Clark is the first announced member of the Air Force’s class of 2025. Air Force swimming has hit Georgia hard for recruiting of late, including 3 of the men’s teams best swimmers out of the Stingrays Club in Marietta (though one, Zach Franklin, wound up at the University of Georgia instead). Ashley Buzzelli on the women’s team also comes from the Stingrays Club.
