Georgia Bulldogs Reel in Verbal Commitment from National Junior Teamer Madison Homovich

The University of Georgia has opened its high school class of 2018 recruiting season by landing a verbal commitment from one of the most decorated swimmers in the class: distance standout Madison Homovich. Homovich announced via her Twitter account:

“I’m very Excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Georgia! Go dawgs??!!”

Pittsboro, North Carolina-native Homovich is currently a junior in high school and swims for Marlins of Raleigh. A USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, she has been a major force on the national scene in distance events since her early teens. At 2014 Speedo Junior Nationals, she was runner-up in the 400/800/1500m freestyles; she also made the championship finals in the 200 fly and 400 IM.

A member of the U.S. National Junior Team, Homovich represented Team USA at Junior Pan Pacs last summer. She has won the 1650 free in each of the last two Winter Juniors East Championships. Still 16, Homovich ranks #24 on the all-time list for 15-16 girls in the SCY 500 free, #21 in the 1000, #22 in the 1650, #51 in the 200 back, #89 in the 200 fly, and #35 in the 400 IM.

Her top SCY times are:

  • 1000 free – 9:38.16
  • 500 free – 4:40.90
  • 200 free – 1:47.18
  • 400 IM – 4:11.84
  • 200 fly – 1:58.53
  • 100 fly – 55.02
  • 200 back – 1:55.88
  • 100 back – 55.11
