Georgetown Releases 2015-16 Schedule

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Swimming & Diving Head Coach Jamie Holder announced the team’s 2015-16 schedule, including 11 regular season meets and two exhibitions before the BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships in February.

“Our schedule has a lot of great teams for us to compete with this year,” said Holder, the defending BIG EAST Men’s Co-Coach of the Year. “It will prepare us to perform at our best at BIG EAST Championship and hopefully get some of our athletes to the NCAA championship level.”

The Hoyas open the season at McCarthy Pool for the annual Blue & Gray Intra-Squad Meet on Friday, September 25. One week later, GU’s swimmers will travel to American University for the Potomac Relays, while the diving competition will be held at McCarthy Pool on Friday, October 2.

Georgetown opens its dual meet schedule at Delaware on Saturday, October 3, then travels to Princeton for a scrimmage the following week.

The Hoyas host their first dual meet of the season when Towson comes to the Hilltop on Saturday, October 17. GU will also take on William & Mary (Oct. 23) and Davidson (Oct. 24) in addition to their two-day quad meet with Rutgers and conference foes Villanova and Seton Hall on November 6-7. The Blue & Gray will conclude the fall season at the three-day Bucknell Invitational from November 20-22.

GU will once again spend one week in January training in Ponce, Puerto Rico in preparation for the second half of the season. Upon their return, the Hoyas will travel across town to meet George Washington (Jan. 16) in their last road dual meet of the season.

Georgetown hosts Rider at 4 p.m. on Friday, January 22, then welcomes Drexel to McCarthy Pool the following day for a 1 p.m. meet. The team will honor its senior class with a Senior Day celebration on Saturday, February 13 when it hosts conference-rival Providence with a meet beginning at 10 a.m.

Georgetown will look to continue its upward trend after the men and women each finished second at the BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships last season. This season’s championship meet will be held at Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y. The Hoyas return 19-of-23 All-BIG EAST selections from last season and bring in a talented 15-student-athlete freshmen class.
