Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Blythe Holloway, a 2023 Futures qualifier and current member of the Raleigh Swimming Association (RSA), has announced her verbal commitment to the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW).
Holloway will join the reigning Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) champions in the fall of 2024.
“I am so beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at the University of North Carolina Wilmington! Big thanks to my coaches, my family and friends, and all of my teammates at RSA for their endless support every day. Thank you to Coach Bobby for this opportunity and I cannot wait to join this incredible team! #hawkyeah”.

A breaststroke specialist, Holloway is riding some momentum entering the long course season, having set personal best times in both the 100 breast (1:04.66) and 200 breast (2:21.00) at the North Carolina Senior Championships in late February.
She also set a new lifetime best in the 200 IM (2:09.04), as those will likely be the three events she keys in on upon arrival at UNCW.
At the 2023 NCHSAA 4A High School State Championships, Holloway placed 21st in the 100 breast (1:06.41) and 23rd in the 200 IM (2:12.18) while competing for Athens Drive High School.

Holloway is the daughter of NC State head coach Braden Holloway, and her commitment marks at least the second time in this class we’ve seen the child of a top-five NCAA head coach commit elsewhere, with Florida coach Anthony Nesty‘s daughter Lillie committing to Texas.
Holloway will align with UNCW head coach Bobby Guntoro, who previously spent eight seasons coaching alongside Braden with the Wolfpack.
“Very proud and happy for our oldest daughter @blythe.hollowayy on her decision to join @uncwswimmingdiving and dear friend @guntorob to continue her academic and swimming career!,” Braden wrote on Instagram. “She fell in love with the people, community and vision! #prouddad”
Guntoro was named head coach of the Seahawks in July 2020, and has revitalized the program since his arrival. After placing fifth at the CAA Championships in his debut season in 2021, UNCW was the 2022 runner-up and then this past season, claimed their first conference title since 2006 in dominant fashion.
Holloway will have the opportunity to train along rising UNCW sophomore Gil Shaw, who is coming off a breakout freshman season that included runner-up finishes in both the 100 and 200 breast at the 2023 CAA Championships. Still in her junior year of high school, Holloway’s current best times are within striking distance of earning a top-16 spot at the CAAs.
Holloway joins Southern Maryland Aquatic Club swimmer Addy Donnick in UNCW’s 2024 class.

Congratulations Blythe!
Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach are special! You will have the time of your life.
Next time you are in WB, stop by Robert’s Grocery and try their famous chicken salad sandwich!
Perfect place for her and I know she will be a great asset to the UNCW Swimming and Diving program!
Congratulations to Blythe and her parents!!!!
Her dad probably could have gotten her a spot on NC State’s team but I think she’ll have more fun at UNCW.
Thanks captain obvious
