First-year Florida State swimming and diving head coach Neal Studd announced the 2016-17 season schedule on Tuesday.

The slate contains nine contests for women and eight for men, including three ACC opponents in addition to two diving invites and the Georgia Fall Invitational.

“This schedule will present some challenges for us,” Studd said. “Between dual meets and Invitationals we will be up against some very talented and ranked teams and it should really test our team. I think this crop of competition will help us prepare for ACC’s and NCAA’s.”

The Seminoles will host two meets at the Morcom Aquatics Center, first welcoming ACC foe Duke and Minnesota on Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.  Both FSU squads fell at Duke in 2015-16, however split with Minnesota as the men edged out the Gophers, 158-142 in Tallahassee.

Five days later, FSU will host Florida in the annual Sunshine State Showdown on Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. on Homecoming weekend.

Florida State will travel to its remaining meets at Florida Gulf Coast, Indian River, Pittsburgh, Alabama and Georgia Tech before concluding the regular season at the Carolina College Invite, which will be hosted by North Carolina and Duke.

The divers will attend two diving invitationals, first in Indianapolis at IUPUI from November 18-20 and the other at Auburn, December 17-19.

Both invites will be used to prepare for the NCAA Zone B Championships, which will be held at Auburn from March 6-8 and the NCAA Championships at IUPUI from March 15-18 and 22-25.

“I am very excited to get this season started,” FSU head diving coach John Proctor said. “We’ve got an All-American returning for his senior season and we’ve got a ton of depth. We’re hard at work gearing up for this year and I think our schedule will help us prepare for those championship meets.”

The women’s and diving ACC Championships will be held from Feb. 15-18 and men’s swimming will follow from Feb. 22-25. The location will be announced at a later date.

The Seminoles will host their Garnet vs. Gold exhibition on Sept. 29 at the Morcom Aquatics Center at 3 p.m. For more information on FSU swimming and diving visit Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
