CHICAGO (Feb. 3, 2024) – Behind dominant performances from sophomores Harrison Nolan (Riverside, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) and Kerry-Leigh Morrison (Gauteng, South Africa/St. Mary’s School) the UIC diving teams tallied strong marks at the UIC Diving Invitational.

33 divers from six different schools competed at this year’s invitational. The competition was the final event of the 2023-24 season at Flames Natatorium.

I thought the team did very well. In the last two weeks, we have had tough competitive meets each weekend and I’m really impressed with how this team has risen to occasion at each of these competitions. We are looking forward to a few weeks of training before conference.”
Men’s

  • Nolan earned first place finishes in both the one-meter (347.85 points) and three-meter (356.45 points) events.
  • Sophomore Bruno Carrillo (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) began the day with a 340.40-point performance on the one-meter diving board, earning second place. The Oak Forest native finished the invitational with a 311.25-point performance to earn third place in the three-meter diving event.
  • Junior Cole Tremewan (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) finished in second place on the one-meter diving board, with a score of 343.55 points. He also placed third in the three-meter diving event with a score of 334.70 points.
  • Senior Hunter Trautmann (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) tallied 291.90 points on the three-meter board to place fourth. He also scored 244.20 points in the one-meter diving board event to place sixth in the event.
  • Freshman Sami Kassir (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) finished fifth on the one-meter diving board, scoring 249.55 points. He also scored 242.95 points on the three-meter diving board to place 12th.

Women’s

  • Morrison won the one-meter diving event to begin the invitational, scoring 250.65 points. The sophomore finished her day with a second place finish on the three-meter diving board with a score of 281.15 points.
  • Junior Ciara McCliment (Farmington Hills, Mich./Mercy) collected two third place finishes in the day, first scoring 247.20 points on the one-meter diving board, followed by a 268.60-point performance in the three-meter diving event.
  • Sophomore Kathryn Kleczka (Franklin, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) placed fifth on the one-meter diving board with 236.45 points and sixth in three-meter diving event with a score of 230.10 points.
  • Junior Gabriella Richards (Saline, Mich./Saline) placed fifth on the three-meter diving board (234.45 points) and eighth in the one-meter diving event (213.90 points).

UP NEXT FOR THE FLAMES
The women’s program is set to travel to Evansville, Ind. to compete in the 2024 MVC Swimming and Diving Championships from Wednesday Feb. 21 to Saturday Feb. 24 at the Deaconess Aquatic Center. UIC’s men’s program will be off until March when the Flames head to Carbondale, Ill. for the 2024 MAC Swimming & Diving Championships. The four day event runs from March 6 through March 9.
