FINA Releases Dates for 2017 Open Water Series

FINA has begun releasing dates and locations for its 2017 Open Water Series. There are 2 separate series to come this season: the 10k Open Water Series and the Grand Prix Series for races that are 15k or longer. They will not conflict with the Open Water events at the 2017 World Championships, which will take place from July 15th to July 22nd.

The following are the dates and locations that have been listed for the 10k Open Water Series:

  • February 4 – Viedma, Argentina
  • June 24 – Setubal, Portugal
  • July 27 – Lac Saint-Jean, Canada
  • August 12 – Lake Megantic, Canada
  • October 15 – Chun’ai, China
  • October 21 – Hong Kong

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates has also been listed as a location for the 10k Open Water series. However, no date has been given for a race in that location as of now. You can read more about the 10k series on FINA’s event page here.

The following are the dates and locations that have been listed for the Open Water Grand Prix Series:

  • February 5 – Sante Fe-Coronda, Argentina
  • February 12 – Villa Urquiza Parana, Argentina
  • July 29 – Lake St John (Canada)
  • August 19 – Ohrid Lake (Macedonia)
  • September 3 – Capri-Napoli (Italy)
