Erik Persson Breaks Swedish National Record in 200 SCM Breaststroke

Erik Persson has broken a 10-year old Swedish National Record in the men’s 200 SCM breaststroke at their Short Course National Championships.

His swim of 2:07.07 broke the 2003 record of Martin Gustavsson, where he was a 2:07.66 at this same short course championship meet.

Persson, who is only 19, also broke the Swedish Junior National Record with that swim. The Swedes, between him and Johannes Skagius, have one of the best young combinations of breaststrokers in Europe, and that rivalry could go a long way toward developing the group in the future. That’s much as we’ve seen from the Swedish women’s breaststroke group in the last 5 years, where great depth has led to great swims.
