Dynamo Backstroker Patrick Cusick Verbally Commits to University of North Carolina

Patrick Cusick of Dynamo Swim Club has made a verbal commitment to the University of North Carolina for the 2015-16 season. A senior at Georgia’s Alpharetta High School, Cusick took fifth in the 200 IM and second in the 100 back, and was a member of Alpharetta’s 200 medley and 400 free relays, which placed fourth and third, respectively at the 2014 GHSA 6A State Swimming & Diving Meet.

Cusick’s top short course times over the last two seasons have been:

50y back: 23.14
100y back: 49.10
200y back: 1:46.80
200y IM: 1:51.36
400y IM: 3:57.67
50y fly: 22.67
100y fly: 50.116
50y free: 21.60
100y free: 46.77

Cusick’s 100/200 back times are already C-final-worthy based on the 2014 ACC Championships. The Tarheels loaded the B-final last year with now-juniors Sam Lewis, Nic Graesser, and Ben Colley. Cusick will have a year of overlap before he will be in the group that takes over the mantle.
