Drexel Men & Women Pick Up Pair of Narrow Wins In Sweep of Delaware

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women’s swimming and diving team defeated Delaware in Philadelphia Saturday morning, 150-144. The Dragons improve to 4-0 on the season.

Brittany Corbett continued her dominance in distance freestyle, winning the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 10:22.48 and the 200 Freestyle in 1:54.28. She also claimed second place in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:04.09. Fede Nocera won the 100 Backstroke in 55.97 and took second in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:05.78. Mari Alencar added victories in the sprint freestyle events, winning the 50 Freestyle in 23.89 and the 100 Freestyle in 52.00. Megan Ehrnfeldt secured first place in the 200 Butterfly, clocking in at 2:06.43.

The relay teams were equally impressive, with the 200 Medley Relay team of Federica NoceraEmma PillichMegan Ehrnfeldt, and Mari Alencar taking first place in 1:45.39. The 400 Freestyle Relay team, featuring Brittany CorbettOlivia ScherbinMegan Ehrnfeldt, and Mari Alencar, also captured first place with a time of 3:30.15.

Additional contributions included a third-place finish from Harper Barrowman in the 1000 Freestyle (10:29.16) and Jessie Rothrock’s second-place swim in the 200 Freestyle (1:57.33). Olivia Scherbin added a third-place finish in the 100 Freestyle (53.05), while Aldercy Bui placed third in the 100 Backstroke (58.06).

The Dragons will be on the road at Towson next Saturday.  Meet time is set for 10:00am.

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men’s swimming and diving team broke four pool records on their way to defeating Delaware 159.5-140.5 Saturday morning in Philadelphia. The Dragons stay perfect, moving to 4-0 on the season.

The 200 Medley Relay team of Theo AndreopoulosBartosz LoterJakub Kwasny, and Sebastian Smith set a record with a time of 1:29.57. Smith also broke the pool record in the 50 Freestyle, in which he already owned the record, clocking in at 20.31, and in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 44.42. The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Theo AndreopoulosReds RullisJakub Kwasny, and Sebastian Smith capped off the meet with another record-breaking performance, finishing in 2:59.80.

Reds Rullis won the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:39.09 and added another victory in the 500 Freestyle, clocking in at 4:35.41. Theo Andreopoulos dominated the 100 Backstroke, taking first place in 49.00, while Jakub Kwasny earned first in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 1:52.14. Joshua Gratton also claimed the top spot in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 285.53.

The Dragons added key second-place finishes, including Andrea Casini in the 200 Freestyle (1:42.04), Dimi Gkelis in the 100 Backstroke (50.30), and Alessio Gianni in the 200 Butterfly (1:52.90).

Third-place finishes included Youssef Bahgat in the 200 Freestyle (1:54.82) and Dimi Gkelis in the 200 Backstroke (1:50.49).

The Dragons will be on the road at Towson next Saturday.  Meet time is set for 10:00am.

The Blue Hens dropped the meet by a final score of 150-144. Their overall dual meet record is now 3-3.
