During the weekend in Minneapolis, swimswam got the chance to talk to recently announced head women’s olympic coach and SwimMAC CEO and head coach, Dave Marsh. He gave his insight on where he thinks his athletes, as well as where athletes around the country, are a this point in the olympic year both physically and mentally.
Marsh comments on USA’s ability as a whole to flip the switch one year out of the Olympic games, and how you could feel the heightened sense of intensity on the pool deck throughout the meet this weekend. He also discussed the focus for his athletes isn’t so much going fast, so much as it is getting down and perfecting the stroke with which they will compete for the rest of the season going into the 2016 olympic trials, so they won’t have to make changes without having adequate practice and meet preparation.
