Crimson freestyer Shannon Fitzsimmons headed to Assumption College

Shannon Fitzsimmons will stay within the state of Massachusetts to begin her college career next season, jumping from Crimson Aquatics to the defending Northeast Conference (NEC) champion Assumption College Greyhounds.

Fitzsimmons is a freestyler who swims up to the longest distances. She’s got instant NEC scoring times in her three best events, including a mile time that would have won the conference title last season.

Fitzsimmons’ Top Times (and where they would have finished in the 2014 NEC meet)

  • 200 free: 1:59.59 (8th)
  • 500 free: 5:14.07 (4th)
  • 1650 free: 17:43.71 (1st)

Fitzsimmons announced her verbal commitment via Twitter this weekend. She’ll join Assumption in NCAA’s Division II next fall after wrapping up her senior season with Crimson and Andover High School.
