Below is a press release covering day 2 of the 2015 ECC College Club Swimming Championships, courtesy Kevin Gell, a Northeastern University swimmer.

With one day left of the 2015 ECC meet, the Colorado Women and Florida Men are the favorites to repeat their 2014 performances. The Lady Buffs lead second place Northeastern (307) by nearly 300 points. Ohio State rounds out the top three with 302 points. The Gator Men have racked up 550 points to lead Ohio State by about 130 points. The race for second is between OSU and Colorado; the two teams are separated by only four points. Combined, it appears that Florida will need to have some big swims on the final day to overtake the Buffaloes. Colorado has scored a combined 1015.50 to Florida’s 813. Ohio State sits 3rd with 720.50 points.

Much like the Friday session Colorado started the night with a relay win – this time in the 4×100 Freestyle Relay. The Buffaloes also claimed titles in the 100 Breaststroke (Casey Wilson), 100 Backstroke (Alaina Gossett), and the 4×50 Medley Relay. On the Men’s side, Virginia had a strong showing, claiming victory in a close 4×100 Freestyle Relay field, as well as having the duo of Dirk Verheul and Jonathan Littles go 1-2 in the 200 Freestyle. Florida also had a pair of wins in the men’s 4×50 Medley Relay and 1000 Freestyle (Brandon Garner).

Other winners tonight include Julianna Prim (NC State) and James Crabb (Virginia Tech.) in the 50 Butterfly, Melissa Andruzzi in the 200 IM and 200 Freestyle, Andrew Smiddy (Penn State) in the 200 IM, Megan Sirujariyavat (Colorado Mesa) and Jacob Johnson (Duke) in the 50 Freestyle, Andrew Brower (Ohio State) in the 100 Breaststroke, Jacob Johnson in the 100 Backstroke, and Maddie Sibilia of Georgia Tech in the 1000 Freestyle.

Tomorrow will be the last day of competition at the 2015 ECC National Championship. The Sunday session is a fast paced group of sprint events which will surely provide an exciting finale to the most competitive ECC meet to date.
