Colorado Mesa Draws In Versatile Tyler Cotton ‏for 2017-18

Fresno, California’s Tyler Cotton announced via social media that he had committed to swim for Colorado Mesa University next fall. But his coach, Adam Reid, beat him to it by about 12 hours:

Cotton is a senior at Clovis West High School, and a member of the CIF-Central Section Division I champion boys’ swimming and diving team. He helped the Golden Eagles win the 2016 team title with a seventh in the 100 back and a 14th in the 50 free. He also swam a leg on their runner-up 200 free relay.

Cotton also swims for Clovis Swim Club, with whom he competed at the 68th Annual Husky Invitational last December, notching many of his personal best times. Cotton also had an outstanding showing in February at the Juanita Allington Memorial Senior Meet. A versatile swimmer, his best performances have come in freestyle, IM, breast, and back.

Best SCY times:

  • 50 free – 21.94
  • 100 free – 48.60
  • 200 free – 1:48.02
  • 200 IM – 2:01.14
  • 100 breast – 1:02.27
  • 100 back – 55.06
  • 200 back – 2:00.47
