Qiu Bo has been crowned 10m platform world champion at the last three World Championships, taking home the gold in Shanghai, Barcelona, and Kazan.

He was denied the 10m gold in 2012 at the London Olympics by American David Boudia, finishing less than two points behind him. As Rio nears, he has his sights set on Olympic gold.

Qiu was named the 2011 FINA Male Diver of the year, and is poised to at least earn more international hardware this summer.

Most recently, he overcame a deficit to Boudia in the 10m platform at the 2015 World Championships in Kazan, Russia. The American led during the first two rounds, but in the next four, Qiu would leap ahead and eventually take the title. His performance at those games added to a total of 10 golds for China out of a 13 possible.

Qiu after his 10m gold-winning performance: “It was a tough battle tonight because everyone performed very well. I just showed my normal form, not my best because my training before the Worlds was not as good as my teammate Yang Jian. The most important for my victory was no big mistakes, though I had some small errors. I always have a dream which is to stand on the top of the podium at the Olympic Games.”
