West Day 4 Finals Heat Sheet

East Day 4 Finals Heat Sheet

No. 8 seed Chase Mueller dropping the boys’ 200-yard backstroke A-final appears to be the only A-final scratch for the fourth finals session of the 2022 Winter Junior Championships on Saturday.

Mueller, an 18-year-old NC State commit who went 1:45.64 in the 200 back prelims, will be replaced by Sandpipers of Nevada 16-year-old Luke Ellis (1:46.17). However, Mueller is still slated to swim in the 100 free C-final soon after, where he’s seeded sixth with a time of 44.76. The Foothills Swim Team standout was more than three seconds off his personal best in the 200 back and just about a second off his best 100 free time this morning.

Saturday’s finale will feature individual finals of the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, and 200 fly before concluding with the 400 free relays.

It should be another busy day for the star Sandpipers duo of Bella Sims and Katie Grimes, who come in as the top two seeds in the 200 back and 200 fly. Grimes is also the top seed in the 1650 free by over 18 seconds.

Keaton Jones will try to improve upon his 200 back meet record from this morning, but he’ll have to hold off Nathaniel Germonprez and Maximus Williamson in tonight’s final. The 16-year-old Williamson has a tough double tonight in the 200 back and 100 free.
