Campbell Women Cruise Past Georgia Southern, 161-101

BUIES CREEK – Campbell topped Georgia Southern 161-101 in the final home meet of the fall slate. The Camels finished with 10 first-place finishes out of the 14 events.

The 200 medley relay team got things started right with a time of 1:46.47 to grab a narrow victory.

Katarina Gagnon took the first of four straight individual wins in the 1000 free posting a time of 10:44.82. Campbell then went on to win the 200 free (Laura Lopez), 100 back (Angelica Ragazzoni), and 100 breast (Piper Burton).

Campbell earned the top spot in six of the first seven events to carry an 85-46 lead into the first break.

Eishka Hajek later took first in the 50 free, followed by the trio of Meredith AshburnColleen Renshaw, and Elishka Hajek taking all three podium spots in the 100 free.

Lopez and Ragazzoni continued their strong performance in the 200 backstroke going 1-2, respectively, to help Campbell hold a 134-92 lead at the second break of the day.

Lopez capped the indivual races with her third first-place finish of the day in the 200 IM. The meet wrapped up with the A-team taking the top spot in the 200 free relay.

The Camels now have two weekends off before returning to action Nov. 18-20 at the Liberty Invitational.

BUIES CREEK, N.C.  – Georgia Southern Swimming competed against Campbell for the third meet of the season this weekend.

Out of the 14 events, the Eagles had four first-place finishes: Madlen Wendland (200 Fly in 2:07.16 & 100 Fly in 57.94); Logan Belanger (200 Breast in 2:26.32); and Zuri Clavo (500 Free in 5:13.22).

Georgia Southern also had seven second-place finishes during this weekend’s meet: Emma ScruggsLogan BelangerMadlen Wendland and Abby Wenham (200 Medley Relay in 1:46.96); Monti Dampier (1,000 Free in 10:49.45); Jenna Maloy (200 Fly in 2:10.41); Abby Wenham (50 Free in 24.51); Monti Dampier (500 Free in 5:18.31); Emma Scruggs (200 IM in 2:12.53); and Logan BelangerCarsyn CosmanMadlen Wendland and Abby Wenham (200 Free Relay in 1:39.33).

The Eagles had six third-place finishes across the 14 events: Zuri Clavo (200 Free in 1:56.46); Emma Scruggs (100 Back in 59.94); Logan Belanger (100 Breast in 1:07.55); Hannah Merrill (200 Fly in 2:14.63); Emma Scruggs (200 Back in 2:07.45); and Ieva Evaltaite (200 Breast in 2:29.74).

Finishing out Georgia Southern’s top finishes were several fourth-place finishes as well: Lilly Karsa, Ieva EvaltaiteJenna Maloy and Zuri Clavo (200 Medley Relay in 1:52.31); Madi Banks (1,000 Free in 10:58.11); Abby Wenham (200 free in 1:57.85); Zuri Clavo (100 Free in 54.84); Avery Sargeant (200 Breast in 2:30.20); and Lilly Karsa (100 Fly in 1:00.40).

Out of the 14 events, Georgia Southern dominated the 200 Fly taking the top three finishes in the event.
