Cal goalie Cassidy Ball has been named the MPSF Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Ball was instrumental in leading the No. 6 Cal women’s water polo team to a pair of victories over No. 4 Arizona State last weekend. She made eight saves in each game and spearheaded a stifling defensive effort, including an especially dominant performance Sunday when the Golden Bears held ASU scoreless for more than three quarters in a 5-3 victory. Cal held the Sun Devils to just 10 goals in two games – they came in averaging 11.5 goals per game.
It marks Ball’s second career MPSF Player of the Week award – she also took the honor after Cal’s season-opener in 2020. The Bears have had two conference players of the week this season – fellow senior Brigit Mulder earned the recognition on Feb. 23.
The Bears visit No. 17 San Jose State for a pair of games this weekend.
