CALGARY – The University of Calgary and the University of Calgary Swim Club are pleased to announce the appointment of Ray Betuzzi to the position of Assistant Senior Coach.

Ray will be assigned to coach in the University of Calgary Varsity and post grad swimming program along with the Director of Swimming and Head Coach Mike Blondal.

The newest addition to the team has been involved with the University of Calgary Swim Club for the past 14 years as a swimmer and over the last five years as a coach. Ray competed for the swim club and was able to represent Canada and be on the Canadian Senior National Swim Team from 2004-2011. Ray’s experience while swimming in the NCAA and being the team captain for the men’s team at the University of Minnesota brings a unique perspective to University of Calgary’s Varsity Swim Team.

Ray’s past swimming experience with the University of Calgary Swim Club and the International Training Group at the university will allow him to smoothly transition into his new role within the Dino’s program. We look forward to Rays contributions to our pursuit of swimming excellence. We are excited to welcome Ray as the new addition to the senior coaching staff.

The Dinos will compete at the Canada West Championships from Nov. 25-27 at the University of Alberta. The swim team will then head out to Sherbrooke, Que. in the new year to compete at the CIS Championships. They run from Feb. 23-25.
