SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women’s swimming and diving team won their second straight dual meet Friday, defeating Providence at the Chace Center pool. The Bulldogs swept all 16 events en route to the win.
Natalia Kuipers kicked things off with a bang, swimming a 17:49.86 in the mile to set a Chace pool record in the first individual event of the meet. She was one of eight Bulldogs to take an individual event win on the night.
Reagan Lord led the way with three event wins, sweeping the backstrokes and swimming a 2:12.90 in the 200 IM. Three other Bryant swimmers and a diver took multiple event wins, as Jill Carline won both the 100 and 200 free, Nellie Clark swept the 100 and 200 breast, Julia Stenhard swept the 100 and 200 fly, and Sydney Barnett won both the one and three meter dives.
Marcella Figueroa (50 free) and Charlee LeGallais (500 free) also took individual wins for the Bulldogs.
Bryant will be back in action when they compete in the Gompei Invitational from December 2-4.
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Bryant men’s swimming and diving team earned their first dual meet win of the season with a tight 151-147 win over Providence on Friday.
Griffin Lajoie led with three event wins, as he swept the 100 and 200 back and swam a 2:10.75 in the 200 IM. He was one of three Bulldogs to take multiple wins, as Leo Luna won both the 1500 and 400 free, while Drew Arnold took first in both the one and three-meter dives.
Alex Rowson (200 free) and Andrew Gamper (200 fly) also brought home individual wins for Bryant.
The Bulldogs will return to the pool on December 2-4 at the Gompei Invitational in Worcester.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Providence College women’s swimming and diving team fell to Bryant, 163-134, in dual meet action on Nov. 4 in Smithfield, R.I.
The Friars swept the top-three spots in the 100-yard breaststroke and were paced by Ava Larkin (1:10.05). Hannah Weber (1:10.21) and Julia McCarthy (1:11.88) finished second and third, respectively. Larkin also won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:31.83), with Maddy O’Connor (2:33.58) and Weber (2:35.97) helping to sweep the top three spots as well.
Sally Alrutz claimed first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.71., while O’Connor took the win in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:13.03.
Courtney Reilly topped the field in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing in 54.50, just a tenth of a second ahead of the second-place finisher.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Alrutz, Annie Gathof, Grace Erickson and Reilly claimed victory in a time of 3:44.13.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men’s swimming & diving program competed against Bryant on Friday, Nov. 4. The men’s meet took place at Taylor Natatorium in Providence, R.I. Bryant claimed victory in the men’s meet by a slim margin of 151-147.
The men’s team set two school records during Friday’s meet. Ryan Sharp broke his own record in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 56.92. He set the previous record last weekend against Iona (57.49), taking down Mike Loftis’ record from 2010 (57.78).
The Friars’ 400-meter freestyle relay team also set a school record for a second-straight weekend as Sharp, Alex Beauchene, McGovern Brown and Will Layden completed the event in a time of 3:30.14.
Layden and Kevin Hood also won multiple individual events during the dual meet competition. Layden took first in the 50-meter free (23.92) and 100-meter free (53.09). Hood topped the field in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:04.68) and the 200-meter breaststroke (2:26.45).
The Friars’ 200-meter medley relay team comprised of Brown, Hood, Sharp, Layden also claimed victory (1:45.09).
The women’s team also competed against Bryant on Friday night, in a meet that took place in Smithfield, R.I. Results were not available at the time this release was posted.
The Friars return to action on Saturday, Nov. 5 against Boston University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. in Boston, Mass.
