Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Brody Chandler, the #17 recruit in SwimSwam’s Way Too Early Recruit Rankings for the Boys High School Class of 2026, has announced his verbal commitment to Army West Point.
“I am excited and honored to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the United States Military Academy, West Point. I would like to thank all of my coaches, family and friends for their unwavering support. GO ARMY BEAT navy”
When we did those rankings, Chandler, who swims for the Sierra Marlins Swim Team in Roseville, Calif., was a 20.58/44.17/1:38.89 freestyle sprinter. He’s improved in all three events since this summer, dropping to 20.12/43.86/1:37.15, only improving his individual and relay value in a sprint-focused NCAA Championship format. He swam the latter two times at the Oceanside Speedo Sectionals. He nearly swept the sprint freestyle events at the meet, winning the 50 and 100 while taking second in the 200 freestyle.
Shortly before the Oceanside Speedo Sectionals, Chandler placed seventh in the 100 freestyle at the Winter Junior Championships – West, hitting a then-personal best of 43.94, which marked his first time breaking 44-seconds. He also made finals in the 200 freestyle, placing 24th (1:38.75).
Best Times (SCY):
- 50 freestyle: 20.12
- 100 freestyle: 43.86
- 200 freestyle: 1:37.15
Chandler should have a huge positive impact on the Black Knights from his freshman season. His lifetime bests not only boost Army’s sprint freestyle relays, but his lifetime bests would’ve made him a three-time ‘A’ finalist at the 2025 Patriot League Championships. His lifetime best in the 100 freestyle would’ve placed third in the championship final, while his 50 and 200 freestyle lifetime bests would’ve been seventh.
The Army men’s team is coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history. They won their first Patriot League Men’s team title since 2001, breaking rival Navy’s two-decade long win streak. The team qualified two swimmers individually for the 2025 NCAA Championships and sent four additional relay-only swimmers. The Black Knights tied for 30th in Federal Way, with freshman Johnny Crush placing eighth in the 100 backstroke and the 200 medley relay finishing 15th for HM All-American honors.
It was the culmination of several successful recruiting classes for the Black Knights, a trend they look to continue with Chandler. Crush ranked #10 in the final ranking of the high school class of 2024, making him the highest-ranked non-Ivy League mid-major swimmer in SwimSwam’s ranking history. Now, the Black Knights have earned a verbal commitment from another top 20 recruit.
Chandler joins Michael Gumino, Roy Kwon, Paul Moody, Elonzo Santos, Holden Skidmore, Jason Sugihara, and Hunter Zipperer in verbally committing to Army’s 2026 recruiting class.

Johnny Crush is the real deal. He is having a huge impact on turning Army into a much improved team.
No doubt. Good kid too.
Coach Brandt is putting on an absolute masterclass at Army. Meanwhile, the coaches at Navy are stuck in their ways.
Because some mid freestyler committed? Crush is good. Everyone else , meh. Relax.

Get this kid on a relay with Johnny Crush and watch out!
He’s #52 in the class 9th in California.
according to swimcloud’s broken rankings
Or you could just look at his times. 137? Phst
On the surface, SwimCloud seems to value each event equally, which isn’t fair. He could find himself on two relays and one individual with the 43.xx 100 free. That’s far more valuable than a 500 time with a similar SwimCloud score.
But what if you had a recruit that swam 43s and comparable or faster 200/500 times?
