Breaststroker Paige Romine Gives Verbal to Old Dominion

The Old Dominion woman have a new addition to their recruiting class, as Paige Romine has given her verbal to join the Monarchs next season. Romine’s current club training base is with Occoquan Swimming in Virginia. She’ll make the move to campus next fall after graduating from Patriot High School at the end of this school year.

Last season, Romine qualified to swim the 50 free and 100 breast at the 2016 Virginia 6A Region North Championships. At that meet, she cracked the top 16 in the 100 breast with her 12th place finish. She then went on to set several personal bests at the 2015 Swim and Tri Winter Championships. Among the new best times she set at that meet were her 24.64 in the 50 free and 1:06.17 in the 100 breast.

Romine’s Top Times:

  • 100 breast- 1:06.17
  • 200 breast- 2:29.51
  • 50 free- 24.64
  • 100 fly- 1:00.74
  • 200 IM- 2:13.69

With marginal improvements, Romine could have an immediate impact for the Monarchs at the C-USA Championships. Her time in the 100 breast is within a few tenths of what it took to score at the conference meet last season
