Kenisha Liu of Brea Aquatics stole the show at the Roseville Sectional Championships, winning four individual events on the weekend. She kicked off the meet with a 100 free victory (56.21) over Davis Arden Racing Team’s Amalie Fackenthal (56.64). That was a new PR for Fackenthal, whose teammate Halladay Kinsey took the 200 breast that night in a PR of her own (2:33.85).

Liu won the 200 fly as well on Thursday night, posting a 2:13.32 to eke out the win over Catherine Sanchez (2:13.36) by just four hundredths. Liu’s teammate Michael Tenney took the men’s 200 fly in 2:03.29. The USC-bound Sanchez got some revenge in the 100 fly final, posting a lifetime best 1:00.30 to knock off Liu’s 1:00.41. Alexis Margett was a close third in that race, finishing in 1:00.48.

In the 400 IM, Liu had an enormous drop of nine seconds from her previous best, posting a 4:47.77 for the win. Later on in the session, the UCLA commit Liu dropped a 56.09 to anchor the Brea Aquatics’ victorious 400 free relay (3:52.02). Liu also swam a 2:03.84 to lead off Brea’s winning 800 free relay and anchored their 1st place 400 medley relay with a 56.20. Liu’s 2:15.91 in the 200 IM earned her her fourth win of the weekend.

DART’s Fackenthal broke 26 seconds for the first time in the 50 free, posting a 25.94 to top Liu’s 26.41. Shayne Fleming dominated the men’s 50 free, finishing in 23.07 over Dylan Toy (23.79).
