BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University swimming team took on the Bulldogs of Butler University tonight. The Falcons snatched victory by a score of 192-70.
It was a dominant performance by the Falcons. In thirteen of fourteen events the Orange and Brown swam to victory. The night saw nine different Falcons win an event individually. Led by Livia Castro and Riley McNichols each with two events a piece. Castro captured a win in the 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle with times of 1:55.88 and 5:11.60. Castro also swam a leg in the first placed 800 Freestyle Relay team. McNichols swam to first place finishes in the 100 Freestyle and the 50 Freestyle. Additionally, she swam the fourth leg in the first placed 200 Medley Relay Team.
Freshmen Falcons found home in Cooper Pool as well. Morgan Sokol swam to victory in her first event at home in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 10:45.89. Sokol later added a second-place finish in the 200 Backstroke before swimming the first leg in the first placed 800 Freestyle Relay team. Fellow freshman Emily McNicol added an individual victory in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 57.69. McNicol swam the first leg in the 800 Medley Relay en route to victory.

The Falcons will face their first Mid-American Conference opponent tomorrow in Ball State at 1 p.m. in the Cooper Pool of BGSU. The Orange and Brown will be celebrating Halloween and will be handing out candy in the stands to all fans. You can live stream the meet HERE.

The Butler swim team traveled to Ohio to compete in a dual meet with Bowling Green on Friday. Head Coach Maurice Stewart recognized freshman Kate Schilling as the “Swimmer of the Meet.”
Shilling swam in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Fly, 100 Fly, and 200 IM. She finished second in both the 200 IM and 200 Fly with times of 2:10.95 and 2:11.04 which are both BIG EAST qualifying times. Shilling added another conference qualifying time in the 100 Fly with a time of 59.73, earning her a fourth-place finish.
The Bulldogs lone win came in the 200 Back as Caroline Zimner swam a season best time of 2:05.15.
In the 1000 Free, two Bulldogs swam impressive times earning second and third. Grace Crane swam a 10:49.18 and Elizabeth Naylor was close behind with her season best time of 10:52.13.
Sophie Resner and Gianna Leffler posted BIG EAST qualifying times in the 100 Back, swimming a 1:01.12 and 1:01.39. Resner finished third while Leffler touched the wall in sixth.
The 100 Breast was highlighted by Emily Landwehr whose BIG EAST qualifying time of 1:08.73 earned her third place. She also swam her season best in the 100 Free with a third-place time of 54.24.
Butler recorded two more conference qualifying times in the 50 Free and 500 Free. Olivia Stotts led the Bulldogs in the 50 Free taking fourth with a 25.05 time while Crane took second in the 500 Free with a 5:18.07 time.
The Bulldog 800 Free Relay team of Crane, Naylor, Landwehr, and Zimner placed second swimming a time of 8:00.13.
