2019 Mare Nostrum Tour
Pignatiello set the South American record in the 800 free and 1500 free and Argentine national marks in the 400 (4:06.61), 800 (8:24.33) and 1500 (15:51.68) at the Mare Nostrum Tour stops in Barcelona, Spain, and Canet-en-Roussilon, France, in June 2019.
In Barcelona, she clocked a 15:51.68 at the Mare Nostrum Tour in the 1500 free. The mark bested Chile’s Kristel Kobrich’s record 15:54.30 from the 2013 World Championships, lowered her own Argentine Record from the 2017 World Junior Championships (15:59.51) and ranked third in the world behind American Katie Ledecky and China’s Wang Jianjiahe.
At the Canet-en-Roussillon, France, stop, Pignatiello clocked a South American and Argentine national record in the 800 free (8:24.33) in a silver medal effort.
In the 400 free, Pignatiello also was the runnerup, registering a 4:06.61, besting her own record of 4:08.33 from the 2017 World Junior Championships.
2019 Pan American Games (Lima, Peru)
Pignatiello continued her stellar season and swept the distance freestyle events in Lima, taking gold in the 400 (4:10.86), 800 (8:29.42), and 1500 (16:16.54).
2019 Swammy Awards
Pignatiello’s Pan Ams performance was historic, as she not only was the first-ever Pan Ams champion in the women’s 1500 free but put Argentina on the medal table with the 3rd-most golds (3) and 4th-most medals (9). For that, Pignatiello earned the South American Female Swimmer of the Year Swammy Award.
