Ben Howell, a current high school senior from Durham, Connecticut, has committed to swim for Division III Hamilton College. Howell will graduate from Xavier High School in spring 2020 and join the Continentals’ class of 2024.
Howell is a current year-round swimmer for Middlesex Aquatic Club and was a finalist at the SCC Conference Championships earlier this year. Howell placed 4th in the 100 freestyle (49.47) and 5th in the 200 freestyle (1:47.40). His coach Ronald Vaughan told us that Howell “had been had been popping off personal bests during High School dual meets prior to the season ending before their HS Champs & Buffalo LCM Sectionals.”
This year at the 2020 NESCAC Swimming and Diving Championships with Hamilton, Howell would have been two-tenths of a second away from B-finals in the 200 freestyle with his current time of 1:47.38. He also would have scored in the C final of the 200 backstroke. With the graduation of Evan Tatro, Hamilton will welcome Howell as a potential backstroker for the medley relays.
