Kansas Boy’s 1A-5A High School State Championships Results and Recap

Wichita Heights emerged the victor this year, while Maize and Lenexa St. James Academy tied for 2nd in the team standings. With a couple of swims that would have won against 6A competitors, the 1A-5A State Championships proved a fast meet.

Shawnee Mission East defended their state title from last year, thanks to a deep and well-rounded roster. Jordan Portela of Lawrence Free State and Sam DiSette of Overland Park Blue Valley North took down state records and dominated in each of their individual events.

Denison Women’s and Men’s Teams Overtake Kenyon in NCAC Championships

After clenching a national championship last year, the Denison University men’s team beat rival Kenyon College again in their conference championships. The Denison Women’s team also beat the Kenyon Ladies, who bested Denison at the 2016 NCAA Championships (though were not the champions themselves).

Emory Men and Women Win 19th Consecutive UAA Conference Championship Titles

The Emory men’s swimming & diving team captured its 19th consecutive UAA Championship title, beating Division III powerhouse Washington University of St. Louis by 134 points, while Emory’s women’s team also won the championship by nearly 500 points.

South African Swimmer Bradley Tandy Inducted into NJCAA Hall of Fame

Before he went on to set records in the PAC-12 conference as an Arizona Wildcat, South African Olympian Bradley Tandy was a swimmer at National Junior College powerhouse Indian River State College where he set school and NJCAA records and earned the honor of the NJCAA Swimmer of the Year award.
