Auburn secured a double win in the pool over the weekend as both the men’s and women’s swim and dive teams emerged victorious from their matchup against UNCW on Saturday. Despite a portion of the team being away at the SMU Classic in Dallas, the remainder of the Tigers pulled off a strong performance to secure a pair of definitive victories over the Seahawks.
Women’s Meet
Auburn’s women were on fire throughout the meet, sweeping all 16 events to rack up 242 points, toppling UNCW who scored 58 points overall.
Aside from walking away with the victory in each event, the Tigers also claimed at least the top three spots in eight different events, showcasing their depth across the board. Auburn swept the podium in the 50, 100, 200 and 500 free, 100 breast, 200 fly, 200 back and 3-meter diving.
Auburn’s winning relay teams posted top-ranking times in both the 200 medley and 400 free relays.
The 400 free relay saw Elizaveta Klevanovich, Kate Murray, Isabella Ekk and Wyllo Hanson throw down a time of 3:22.91, which puts them 15th on the ranking of fastest times so far this season.
Meanwhile, the team of Kyla Maloney, Olivia Stewart, Lawson Ficken and Klevanovich posted a time of 1:40.69 as they raced into the wall ahead of UNCW in the 200 medley relay, which would rank 25th among the top times this season.
Notable Results
- Graduate student Klevanovich led the way in points for Auburn, winning the 50 free (23.14) and 100 free (49.90) in addition to the two relays.
- Auburn freshman Taylor Grimley put up a strong performance in her first college meet, sweeping the butterfly events as she won the 100 fly in a 54.03 and the 200 fly in a 2:00.36.
- UNCW’s 200 medley relay team of Maeren McGonigle, Gil Shaw, Cameron Snowden and Lauren Hinton posted a runner-up finish in a time of 1:41.67, just under a second behind the Tigers.
- Shaw and Snowden turned in the Seahawks highest-placing individual performances, taking second in the 200 breast (2:17.04) and 100 fly (54.22), respectively.
- Auburn’s Emily Hallifax earned her first career win with a victory in the 1-meter diving event, scoring 318.98 points.
Men’s Meet
The Tigers claimed a definitive victory over UNCW, winning 12 out of the 16 events to defeat the Seahawks 180 points to 120 points.
UNCW claimed the first victory of the meet, as the team of Jack Vanhowe, Dylan Citta, Dave Fitch and Mac Russell won the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:26.97. They were the only squad in the field to slide under the 1:27 mark, beating out Auburn’s runner-up team by .74.
The Seahawks went on to post a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 breast, with Citta claiming first in a 54.23, Mason Hetzell taking second in a 55.91 and Fitch placing third in a 56.38.
Auburn turned in its own 1-2-3 finish in the 200 backstroke, as Andrew Simmons won with a time of 1:46.59, Josh Noll took second in a time of 1:49.20 and Tate Cutler finished third in a time of 1:49.57.
The Auburn men also swept the podium spots in both diving events. Talan Blackmon, Travis Keith and Whit Andrus went 1-2-3 on the 1-meter, while Keith, Blackmon and David Hatt claimed the top three spots on the 3-meter.
Notable Results
- Auburn freshman Bradford Johnson made a splash in his collegiate debut by winning the 100 fly by nearly a full second with a time of 47.90.
- UNCW claimed three more event titles: Joe Busic won the 200 fly with a time of 1:48.83 while Aidan Duffey and William Carrico won the 200 breast (2:00.28) and 400 IM (3:54.26), respectively.
- In addition to his victory in the 100 breast, Citta was the runner-up in the 200 breast with a time of 2:02.65.
- Grant Davis, a senior for Auburn, led the distance group as he turned in two individual victories; he won the 500 free (4:29.50) and the 1000 free (9:20.24), winning the 1000 by almost seven seconds.

Auburn will be back in action on Oct. 25 when they they travel to Chapel Hill to take on the UNC Tarheels, while UNCW is off until Nov. 8 when they will face the University of South Carolina and Queens University in a tri-meet.
