Auburn, Alabama and Missouri Earn This Week’s SEC Honors

Male Swimmer of the Week

Joe Patching • Auburn, Senior • Ascot, England

Patching won three events in Auburn’s 171-129 win over Kentucky. He took first place in the 200 free (1:37.65), 200 back (1:44.69) and 200 IM (1:49.03). Patching’s 200 back and 200 IM winning times from the Kentucky meet are the fastest in the nation, while his 100 back leadoff split from the 400 medley relay against Kentucky is currently fifth-best in the nation

Male Diver of the Week

Kyle Goodwin • Missouri, Sophomore • Aurora, Colorado

Goodwin swept the springboards in Mizzou’s dual against Alabama on Oct. 14. The sophomore tallied a career-high score of 382.43 on 3-meter to take the win, bettering his old best of 374.48. He also placed first on 1-meter with a six-round tally of 329.48.

Male Freshman of the Week

Zane Waddell • Alabama • Bloemfontein, South Africa

In Alabama’s win at Missouri, Waddell posted a 19.95 in the 50 freestyle – the fastest time by a freshman in the nation this season, the second fastest time in the SEC this season, and the fourth overall fastest time in the nation this season. He also posted a 44.39 in the 100 freestyle – the seventh fastest time in the nation this season, the fastest time by a freshman in the SEC this season and the third fastest overall in the SEC this season.

Female Swimmer of the Week

Katharine Ross • Missouri, Senior • Des Moines, Iowa

Ross swept the backstroke events and helped the Tigers to a relay win in Mizzou’s 167-132 victory over Alabama on Oct. 14. The senior clocked a 1:01.19 to win the 100 breast and a 2:15.37 to claim top honors in the 200 breast. She also swam in Mizzou’s winning 200 medley relay that touched in 1:40.92. On the year, Ross ranks fourth nationally in the 100 breast and 13th in the 200 breast.

Female Diver of the Week

Lauren Reedy • Missouri, Redshirt Senior • Rochester Mills, Mich.

Reedy swept both springboards and set a new school record in Mizzou’s 167-132 win over Alabama on Oct. 14. She tallied a career-best score of 381.98 to win 3-meter and break Missouri’s record on the board. Her score bested the old mark of 376.05 set by Loren Figueroa in 2011. Reedy also took top honors on 1-meter with a score of 313.95. The redshirt senior now holds both Tiger springboard marks, as she set the 1-meter record in 2015.

Female Freshman of the Week

Julie Meynen • Auburn • Luxembourg

Meynen led Auburn sweeps in the 50 free (23.00) and 100 free (49.52) as Auburn topped Kentucky 178.5-121.5. She was a part of two winning relays, swimming the anchor leg on the 400 medley relay and the second leg on the 200 free relay. Her 100 free time of 49.52 is currently sixth-fastest in the nation. Meynen has now won the 100 free in both of Auburn’s dual meets this season.
