Ashley Harmon Gives Verbal to 1st Oklahoma Christian Women’s Team

Richmond, Texas-native Ashley Harmon has verbally committed to swim for the inaugural women’s program at Oklahoma Christian University in the fall of 2017.

“I am honored to announce my commitment to swim for Oklahoma Christian University. I know I will be able to reach my goals both academically and athletically at OC. Also, I am blessed to be a part of starting a new program under the leadership of Josh Davis, who I know will challenge me each day to reach my fullest potential.”

Harmon is homeschooled and swims for Houston Swim Club. She is a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 200 fly, and excels at a variety of events, from distance free to fly to back to IM, usually at the longer end of the range. At the 2016 NCSA Summer Swimming Championships she competed in the 400/800m free, 100/200m fly, and 200m IM. At 2015 Speedo Winter Juniors West, she swam the 100/500y free and 100/200y fly.

Harmon is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American whose top SCY times include:

  • 200 fly – 2:04.51
  • 100 fly – 56.98
  • 1650 free – 17:07.52
  • 1000 free – 10:23.23
  • 500 free – 4:59.49
  • 400 IM – 4:30.29
  • 200 back – 2:06.55

Harmon’s versatility will be an asset to the upstart Oklahoma Christian women’s program as she will be in a position to score in any number of events. At the 2016 NCAA Division II Championships, Harmon’s top 200 fly time would have made the B final and her 1650 free would have placed 16th, while her 400 IM and 500/1000 frees would have just barely missed the top 16.
