Coby Deville Becomes 1st Louisianan to Verbally Commit to Tiffin

Coby Deville of Opelousas, Louisiana has made a verbal commitment to Tiffin University men’s swimming and diving for the 2017-18 season.

“It is with great pride and excitement that I announce my commitment to Tiffin University Swimming and Diving. I immediately fell in love with the team, school, and community and knew Tiffin University would be my future home. I am extremely thankful that I have the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing program! GO DRAGONS!!”

A senior at Opelousas Senior High School, Deville is a three-year captain and one of the founders of his high school swim team. He was named to the All-District team in each of his three years, finishing first in the 200/500 free and 100 fly at District Championships. He was also a finalist in the 200/500 free and 100 fly at the LHSAA Division II State Meet during his first two seasons.

Deville has only been swimming year-round since April, 2013. He trains with the City of Lafayette Aquatics club team, and competed at the 2016 Southern Zone Senior Long Course Championships in the 50/100m free and 50/100m fly this summer.

His top SCY times are:

  • 100 fly 57.43
  • 200 fly 2:10.32
  • 100 free 51.71
  • 100 back 59.14
