Arizona State Champion Emma Broome Commits To Utah

You can catch Scottsdale Aquatic Club’s Emma Broome competing in the Pac-12 next season, as she’s just given her verbal commitment to swim for the University of Utah next fall. Broome will make the move to Utah next fall after graduating from Chaparral High School.

Last season, Broome was a 2-time champion at the 2015 Arizona Division 1 High School State Championships, where she swam to victory in the 100 fly and 100 back. She then went on to compete at the 2015 Speedo Winter Junior Nationals (West), where she cracked the top 24 with a 17th place finish in the 100 back. She also played a role on SAC’s relays, earning a bronze medal as the backstroker on their 200 medley relay.

Broome’s Top Times:

  • 50 free- 24.08
  • 100 free- 51.71
  • 200 free- 1:52.89
  • 100 back- 54.65
  • 200 back- 2:02.53
  • 100 fly- 55.07
  • 200 fly- 2:04.62
  • 200 IM- 2:06.08

When she arrives at Utah, Broome should have an immediate scoring impact for the Utes at the Pac-12 Championships. Her personal bests of 54.65 in the 100 back and 55.07 in the 100 fly are already fast enough to have scored in the C-final at 2016 Pac-12s. Additionally, she’s about a second shy of scoring range in the 200 back.
