WOMEN
Laura Steavenson won the 500 free and she swam on the 400 medley relay in the first session of a quad meet at Calvin College.
Steavenson completed her freestyle race in 5:26.72 to gain a 2 ½ second victory over Carthage’s Taylor Hutton. Steavenson was joined by Haley Wallis, Hailey Sambor and Julia DiFiore for a sixth-place finish in the medley relay (4:24.31).
Albion finished fifth in the other relay contested Friday night, the 200 freestyle. Anna Hargrove, Molly Blank, Madi Vaive, and Lauren Pawelec completed the race in 1:43.65.
In other races Friday night Sarah Kilbride was seventh in the 200 IM (2:20.40) and Vaive was seventh in the 50 free (25.82).
MEN
It was a busy Friday night for Parker Belmore, Derek Bosko and Sebastian Tostado as Albion College swimmers competed in the first session of a quad meet at Calvin College.
All three Britons swam in both relays contested. They were joined by Nick Deppner for the 200 free for a runner-up finish in the 200 free. The Britons’ time of 1:27.57 was just a second off the pace set by Calvin. Landon Lefler joined the trio on the fourth-place 400 medley team that finished in 3:39.74.
Individually, Bosko sprinted to first place in the 50 free (21.65 seconds) and Tostado was touched out at the wall by .18 in the 200 IM (1:57.94).
Blake Blair finished ninth in the 500 free (5:01.99).
