TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama swimming and diving announced its 2021-22 schedule Friday, with a slate that includes five dual meets and five regular-season invitationals.

Alabama opens the season at home on September 24 with Delta State at 2:30 p.m. CT at the Alabama Aquatic Center. Outside of last year’s COVID-disrupted schedule, the Crimson Tide has opened its swimming and diving season with the Statesmen every year since 2012-13, with seven of those eight meetings coming in September. Prior to last season, Alabama-Delta State has been the first collegiate dual meet in the country for several years in a row.

Head Coach Margo Geer Said

“I’m excited for where our program can go this season. We are coming off a terrific year with a lot of success on the national and international scene and we’re looking to carry that even further. We have a strong schedule that gives us a lot of opportunities to compete and grow through the season. This team has a great mix of veterans and newcomers and we’re looking for every individual to be the best they can be this season – one day at a time.”

The 2021-22 Season

  • Alabama starts the season off at home with Delta State (9/24), before traveling up the road to the Birmingham Crossplex to take on Birmingham Southern on October 22
  • The Crimson Tide returns home November 5 to open Southeastern Conference competition with LSU
  • Alabama will travel to Athens, Ga., to take on Georgia January 8, before closing out the dual meet season at home on January 15 with Auburn
  • Alabama will also take part in five invitationals this season including the Tennessee Invitational (11/18-20), the Auburn Diving Invitational (12/15-18), the Tennessee Diving Invitational (1/3-6), the Auburn Invitational (2/3-5) and the Bulldog Invitational (2/26-27)
  • The postseason opens February 15-19 with the SEC Championships in Knoxville, Tenn.
  • The NCAA Zone B Diving Championships (3/7-9), the Women’s NCAA Championships (3/16-19) and the Men’s NCAA Championships (3/23-26) will all be held in Atlanta, Ga., this season

Last Year

  • The Crimson Tide comes into the 2021-22 season on the heels of a particularly strong year, with the women’s team posting its best finish at the NCAA Championships in 30-plus years after taking fifth, while the men posted their seventh top-15 national finish after taking 15th place
  • Over the summer, the Crimson Tide broke several school long course meters records and had one of its strongest showings ever at the U.S. Olympic Trials
  • Rhyan White became the first UA female to win a race the U.S. Olympic Trials and made the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team
  • White went on to earn a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics as part of Team USA’s 400-meter medley relay and posted a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke
  • Her silver medal represents the best finish at the Olympic Games by a member of the UA women’s swimming and diving program

Can’t wait to watch them race! Outstanding Olympics and Olympic Trials by Rhyan White! And? The cupboard is not empty…Rosters are now on line, with numerous returning men and women NCAA qualifiers. This could be another top 15/top 5 year for the Bama men and women!

I’m gonna laugh like hell when Margo turns the program around. If you’re some college dude who thinks you can’t learn from her, you’re an idiot.

If a person can read body language even half way decent, would know that our assistants are not convinced she knows what she is doing. Being a great swimmer does not in anyway equate to being able to coach.

“Turns it around”?? What would be your definition of that? They are already good.

And why do you think sexism is the issue here? Your narrow minded view is a problem.
