The No. 20 Texas A&M men’s swimming and diving team will take on Indian River State College and Florida Atlantic during a road swing through Florida this week.
The Aggies will take on perennial junior college power Indian River at 1 p.m. (CT) on Thursday in Fort Pierce, Fla., and then battle FAU at 9 a.m. (CT) on Saturday in Boca Raton, Fla.
The Aggies will take a 2-0 record in dual meets to Florida with wins over SEC opponent Kentucky and Incarnate Word on their season resume. A&M logged a 155-145 win over Kentucky in Lexington and took down UIW, 174-114, in College Station.
Other early season highlights for the Aggies include a pair of SEC Freshman of the Week honors for Mateo Gonzalez (Torreon, Mexico) and SEC Diver of the Week honors for freshman Sam Thornton (Baildon, United Kingdom). Sophomores Brock Bonetti and Mauro Castillo are undefeated in specialties so far this season with Bonetti sweeping the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes and Castillo winning the 100 and 200 breaststrokes against Kentucky and UIW. Castillo has NCAA B cuts in both races and Bonetti has a B cut in the 100 back.
