Ryan Shute, a senior at Bishop Feehan High School in Massachusetts, has verbally committed to Davidson College.

At the 2020 MIAA Division 2 state championships, Shute placed 2nd in the 200 IM and 3rd in the 500 free. He also won the 500 free at 2020 MIAA winter south sectional championships.
Shute is also a member of the Boston Globe All-Scholastic team.
He swims club for the Bluefish Swim Club. At the 2021 Futures Championship in Richmond, Shute finished 20th in the 400m IM.
Shute has Futures cuts in the SCY 200 and 400 IM, and the LCM 200 breast.
Fastest short-course yards times:
- 200 free: 1:43.15
- 200 breast: 2:05.47
- 200 IM: 1:54.53
- 400 IM: 4:00.59
Davidson College is a member of the Atlantic 10 conference. At the 2021 men’s A10 Championships, Davidson placed 3rd out of 7 teams. At that meet, Shute would’ve made the B final in the 400 IM.
If Shute had been on Davidson’s team this season, he would’ve been the fastest 400 IMer and the 4th-fastest 200 IMer on the team. He also would’ve been the 3rd-fastest 200 freestyler and 200 breaststroker, meaning he has an opportunity to become one of the top swimmers on the team in a variety of events.
Shute joins freestyler Dylan Felt, multi-stroke specialist Fletcher Smith, freestyler Jackson McDonald, and backstroke/IMer Liam McDonough for the recruiting class of 2022.
