Saturday Night Finals Heat Sheets
Heading into the last night of racing t the 2021 Pro Swim Series, Indianapolis, Linnea Mack has scratched both of her A final swims, opting not to race the 100 back or 50 freestyle. She qualified as the 5th seed in the 100 back with a 1:00.96 and 3rd in the 50 free with a 25.16 but does not appear in the heat sheets for either event.
In Mack’s absence, 17th seeds Tristen Ulett in the 100 back and Kaylee Wheeler in the 50 freestyle will move up into the A final.
As she did in the 400 IM on day 3, Leah Smith has scratched herself from the 200 IM after placing 3rd in the prelims with a 2:13.63. Smith likely did so to give herself rest ahead of the women’s 800 freestyle final which will take place at the end of the session. Smith enters the 800 freestyle as top seed with a 8:16.33. Olivia Carter also scratched from the 200 IM, having originally qualified for the B final with a 2:17.54 for 12th place in the prelims. In Smith and Carter’s absence, 17th and 18th seeded Tevyn Waddell and Samantha Tadder advance in the B final.
In the men’s 200 IM, 7th seed Danny Kovac has dropped out of the final after swimming a 2:02.38 in the prelims. That moves 9th place Anze Fers Erzen into the A final. Patrick Callan was also slated to swim the B final of the 200 IM but scratched the event as well.
With all 32 qualifiers retaining their spots in the men’s and women’s A and B finals of the 200 breast, the only other scratches to report are Nick Alexander in the men’s 100 back and Blake Pieroni in the men’s 50 free. Alexander qualified for the 100 backstroke B final by tying Jack Dolan and Ziyad Saleem for 11th in the prelims while Pieroni was seeded 12th in the 50 free. Pieroni’s scratch in the 50 free allowed co-16th place finishers Cam Peel and Hunter Armstrong to avoid a swim-off and gives them both a spot in the B final.
Racing will begin with the women’s 100 backstroke at 6 PM Eastern.
